칼 라손의 그림에선 따뜻함과 사랑이 느껴진다.

그는 자신의 불우한 어린시절을 생각하며

더 밝고 더 따뜻한 행복이 가득한 그림을 그렸으리라.

그를 세계적으로 유명하게 만든것은

벽화나 초상화가 아니라 그의 집과 가족에대한 그림이다.

1899년 책으로 펴낸 <ett heme> 은

시골의 릴라 하트나스 Lilla, Hyttnas(그의 낡은집 이름이다)를 배경으로

아내, 아이와 함께 그곳을 개조해 살아가는 모습을 그림에 담은 것이었다.

그의 책은 1차 세계대전에 참가한 군인들이 구약성서와 함께 꼭 간직했다는 일화가

있을 정도로 많은 이들의 사랑을 받았다 한다.
